To Get A Clinical Bound Assignment

  1. Approximately 5-6 months before your planned term to attend Clinical Bound, the Clinical Director will post a list of Clinical Bound assignments for that term. These lists are posted in this website, left-hand column, under Current Clinical Bound Lists. The list will indicate the Clinical Bound that you are assigned to in that term. Please do not make any plans to take time off work or otherwise travel during the term you are planning Clinical Bound until you are assigned to a list. Notify the Clinical Director if you are not assigned to a clinical bound list in the term you are planning to attend clinical bound. Also notify the Clinical Director if your plans change and you will be attending Clinical Bound in another term.

  2. As always, keep in contact with your planned preceptors, letting them know your progress and the term in which you will be attending Clinical Bound. Some students will still be completing course work after Clinical Bound so they can estimate their start of clinical around the end of that term. If you know you will be ready to start clinical after Clinical Bound you can give your preceptor an approximate month in which you will be ready to start. You need to make a connection with your preceptors at least once a term.

Update the Quality Assurance Office regarding your planned clinical sites:

  1. Approximately six months before you will be attending clinical bound, complete the “Intent to attend Clinical Bound” form. Send this form to Jeff Johnson for CNEP/WHCNP students and Sonya Roark for FNP/CNEP/WHCNP students. Also copy this information to your RCC. This form is a check and balance for the Clinical Credentialing office to be sure that they have the most current information regarding your clinical sites. Be sure to check in with your preceptors prior to completing the “Intent to attend Clinical Bound” to make sure they are still planning for you to start with them in clinical at the planned dates.

  2. Continue to check the Clinical Bound Forum throughout the term. This is where students communicate with each other about coordinating rides to clinical bound and other information.

Clinical Bound Courses are now open to all students as read only courses in ANGEL. You will not be enrolled in these courses until you are registered for them. This read only access will allow you to prepare for Clinical Bound. The courses are: CNEP PC628 Skills for Primary Care and NM629 Skills for Nurse-Midwifery Care CFNP PC628 Skills for Primary Care and NP629 Skills for FNP Care CWHCNP PC628 Skills for Primary Care and WH629 Skills for Women's Health Care

To get to the course, click on “Find a Course” on the Angel Homepage and then enter the code of the course (ie. PC628). Select the appropriate item from the displayed list of classes.

Qualify for the Final Clinical Bound:

  1. Qualify for Clinical Bound by completing all prerequisite coursework (Read detailed Prerequisites in Catalog) and registering for Clinical Bound courses during the registration process the term before.

  2. Notify your RCC when you register for Clinical Bound courses. This will be about one month prior to the term you will be attending clinical bound.

The following three things must be completed 2 weeks before Clinical Bound or you will not be eligible to attend:

  1. Send your Clinical Bound Registration form.
  2. Have a passing grade in all prerequisite courses.

Before Clinical Bound be sure to:

  1. Read the entire Clinical Bound website and complete all necessary preparation for Clinical Bound. This includes preparing for your Clinical Bound courses (see the Do It! page)

  2. Log into the Medatrax website http://np.medatrax.com/. Use the log in name and password you will be given by e-mail about 2-3 weeks before Clinical Bound by the Clinical Director. Follow the instructions in the e-mail and in the Help menu in Medatrax to complete the Clinical Bound check list in the forms section.
